Helium gas ballooning has been popular for many years and particularly on the West Coast of Australia where the winds are predominantly offshore in season due to the warming land mass pushing the winds westward. Traditionally baits like Garfish are rigged under large 90cm balloons filled with helium to make the bait skip across the water enticing spectacular strikes from predators like Spanish Mackerel.
In some locations the bait you want is difficult to get and even accidents do happen like freezer failure so it's good to know there is a viable alternative.
Squidgy Bluewater Livies in the Sea Gar pattern are a proven performer and should be the first choice when the real deal isn't available.
They are a big bait at 300mm long and 156gm so perfect to get a good balance for skipping and as Goshie shows they do work a treat.
