New in 2017 are the Avet G2 reels (generation 2) and for the price they have some great features compared to the standard series:
The new HXJ MC 3-speeds are here! (leaving assembly room in March)
These things are going to be the new WAHOO SLAYERS! The fast retrieve in high gear is perfect for smokin wahoo bombs through the water, as well as the speed for deep jigging, with powerful medium and low gears to tame any beast after the hook set! The narrow spool is the most efficient caster of the HX series (lighter spool, less inertia to overcome to get it spinning during a cast), and the narrow width almost eliminates the worry of line stacking and line leveling on the retrieve. This reel also brings the handle knob closer to the center-line of the rod, significantly reducing cranking wobble while fighting big fish.

The sport of land based game is constantly evolving with new lures dominating the scene and rods being developed to suit. The Scythe Pelagic Slayer fits the bill perfectly when a rod lacks a little low down grunt to get fish past the sharks quicker or turn heads of stubborn fish.
In recent years there is a push for longer 9-11ft rods and the 9 foot Scythe is a great length for landbased spinning.
Developed by renowned landbased angler Tim Lee with the assistance of the countries best spinmen, Scythe rods are the weapon of choice for serious pelagic trophy hunters.
Australia’s top anglers are recognising the real value of a Scythe rod. Serious angler’s in WA such as landbased spinning guru Justin (Podge) Anthony are raving about their cast ability being far superior to other rods on the market and the ease of which the rod dominates anything that dares to get connected at the other end.
Being such a versatile rod, he even uses the rod to bully demersals out of their homes and then proceeds to use the rod as a winch, with the rods 12kg deadlift capacity eliminating the need for a gaff! He’s amazed at the power given how light the rod is!
The popularity of the PSF Scythe 902HD is also quickly spreading around the globe and their suitability for the worlds toughest landbased opponents is gathering a justified recognition within the landbased sportfishing fraternity. From knocking over the hard fighting Yellowtail Kingfish off NewZealands northern rocks, to throwing poppers along the deep drop off’s and coral atolls in West Saudi’s Red Sea targeting massive GT’s and Spanish mackerel. These weapons are dominating where others fail.
With a no non-sense construction Toray Blank Heavy duty rod grips Fuji reel seat The quality of PSF Scythe rods should come with a price tag that far exceeds the actual retail price. But Tim’s vision is to make high end rods that are affordable for every serious angler. He believes high end shouldn’t come with a ridiculous mark-up and has developed these rods simply for the pleasure of affording every Aussie spinman a top quality pelagic weapon.
Specs are truly impressive for a rod of this price point and the finish is excellent
Without a doubt, one of the best knots for connecting braid to mono is the FG knot and we believe the way Le Vi Hua shows it in this video is one of the best ways to tie it. An important aspect is the tensioning of the knot . After using the Line tensioners from MB Custom Lures myself on a recent 3 week trip, i wouldn't be without them and especially since i'm always looking for compact and lightweight gear.
Check out Le Vi Hua from MB Custom tying the FG and using the Line Tensioners at the 3:10 minute mark:
We now stock these handy tools in the Busted Fishing store, so make sure to grab a pair to tie a perfect FG knot.
